University Recreation is offering Small Group Training classes for the Fall 2022 semester. Small Group Training offers a unique opportunity to explore a new dimension of fitness by blending the camaraderie of group fitness with individualized attention from a certified personal trainer. Small group training is a great option for those looking to be part of a motivating class aimed at achieving their fitness goals.

Classes are offered at various times throughout the day and are held at UREC Train, a private customer training space located on the first floor of the HPER building. Each class meets twice a week for six weeks, from September 6 to October 13 and from October 24 to December 8. The cost for students to participate in the entire six-week session is $43; for all other types of membership, the cost will be $57. Register for the small group training at the UREC headquarters located at HPER 225 or register online through the member portal. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 5.

“I never thought I would attend something like a small group training until a colleague invited me to sign up for a free spot. Three years later, I still sign up every semester and look forward to every class,” said Don Nix, a small group training participant and UARK staff member. “The classroom environment is a mix of relaxation and approach while offering some responsibility to stay active and challenge myself. It’s an important part of my work week, and I always feel full of energy after class. Highly recommend giving it a try.”

In addition, UREC is offering an ACE Personal Training certification exam preparation course this semester. The ACE Personal Training Preparation Course is a great first step for anyone interested in becoming a personal trainer. This 10-week course offers curriculum and materials including presentations, lectures, and interactive group activities to help you prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam. This course includes the Sixth Edition ACE Personal Trainer Handbook.

This preparatory course is open to students and members of UREC. It will take place on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from September 13 to November 15. The cost of this course is $50 for students or $75 for UREC members. Register online through the member portal. This preparation course does not certify individuals as personal trainers or guarantee employment with UREC.
