Online fishing retailer victim of privacy class action lawsuit

By Humberto J. Rocha (Jan. 12, 2022, 1:35 p.m. EST) – A Georgia resident has filed a class action lawsuit against an online sporting goods retailer, alleging he failed to take steps to protect its customers’ information from a data breach that has exposed them to identity theft.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Georgia federal court, Thomas Hargrove sued Wilderness Sports Warehouse LLC – which operates as Tackle Warehouse – and its associated sports stores, claiming the company failed to protect personally identifiable information of its customers from hackers and had instead acted in a “reckless” and “negligent” manner with respect to its cybersecurity measures.
