Odisha government revises school timetable amid severe heatwave, check details


As a result of the rise in temperature, the government of Odisha has decided to change the teaching schedules in all schools. According to the official notice issued by the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha, the new teaching hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on May 2, 2022. However, the exams already scheduled by different boards /tips will continue as usual.

The Education Department of Odisha School has also announced that the Learning Recovery Plan (LRP) prepared by OSEPA will be conducted during the summer holidays. The LRP applies to government and government-subsidized schools. Pupils in class 3 to 10, including new admissions as well as pupils in class 11 who will be promoted to class 12, will be covered by the LRP.
Earlier, the Odisha government suspended classes for all students for five days due to the prevailing heat wave.

Odisha board cancel second shift board exams

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE Odisha) has recently canceled the second shift of the BSE Odisha Matric Examinations 2022. It has been announced that the 10th Odisha Examinations which were to start on April 29th in the afternoon shift will would now take place in the morning shift. This was announced after the heatwave situation prevailing in the state. The Board has clarified that there will be no afternoon shift for these exams. This will also apply to Odisha Madhyamik Exam and Odisha Board Open School Exam 2022.

Other states are revising school hours

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also revised school timetables for students in view of the rise in temperature. All primary schools will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while middle, upper and upper grades will start at 7:00 a.m. and continue until 12:30 p.m. Schools will remain closed between May 14 and June 30, but online classes will be conducted between May 16 and May 31, 2022. On April 27, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged the Minister of Education to announce the start of summer holidays in schools and colleges from May 2, 2022.
